Increase output resolution using the render upscaling module

Alpha: Real-ESRGAN upscaling is included with every valid licence for testing and feedback. The workflow can change before production release.

The Upscale module configures Real-ESRGAN-based enlargement in the render flow. It is distinct from selecting the standalone Real-ESRGAN pipeline and from the optional upscale action available while preparing a 360 LoRA input. It is also distinct from the open-render toolbar: the toolbar has one Resize popover whose Upscale band applies Real-ESRGAN to the node you are viewing. There is no separate Upscale toolbar button.

License

Upscale is available with any valid license (Standard or Pro). It is not a Pro-only feature. Pro’s license differentiators are sequences and activation count (4 vs 2) — not resolution or upscale.

How to use

  1. Complete a diffusion (or other) render at your working canvas size (often 8192×4096).
  2. Open the Upscale module and choose 2× or 4× (subject to VRAM).
  3. Choose the available 360-aware processing option when working with a 2:1 equirectangular panorama.
  4. Run upscale and inspect poles and seams in the 360 viewer.
  5. Export the upscaled result from Output.

Upscale an open render

  1. Open the render and select the graph node you want to enlarge.
  2. Click Resize in the viewer toolbar.
  3. In Upscale, choose 2×, 4×, 8×, or 16×. The rows show dimensions from the node's native base and disable destinations beyond the 16K edge cap.
  4. Leave Projection-Aware Upscale enabled for a 2:1 equirectangular panorama when you want wrap-aware mid-latitudes and separately processed polar caps.
  5. Select the new upscale node in the derivation graph to inspect or continue from it.

Use Size in the same popover when you need an absolute output dimension instead of an AI scale factor. Size actions create resize nodes; Upscale actions create upscale nodes.

Tips

  • Prefer a good base render over relying on 4× alone — garbage in, larger garbage out.
  • High factors need substantial VRAM; drop factor or free GPU load via GPU Management if OOM.
  • Sequence upscaling (Pro) follows the sequence export path, not this single-image module alone.
