The Graph — node versioning

Your render history. Every change is saved as a step, and you can roll back to any of them at any time.

The Graph is a permanent undo for every image. Every edit you make becomes a step in the Graph. The step marked with a filled yellow diamond is the head: the image you are working on right now. Click the diamond beside any earlier step and that step becomes the head. That is a rollback, and nothing is deleted.

Try it. Click a diamond in the graph below.

GRAPH
12 nodes
Head · the image you are working on
Step 8 · Spot Edit

Dot: a step

Every edit that changes the image adds one. Spot Edit, Resize, Upscale and the rest each get their own.

Diamond: set graph head

Filled is the head, the image you work on. Click an empty one to roll back to that step.

Highlighted row: the one you're looking at

Click a row to preview it. Looking is safe. It never changes the head.

Two ways to read the same history

Switch views in the graph's header. The order flips, and so does the question the graph answers.

How it works

  1. 1

    Do the work

Tile, Spot, Layers, post, upsample. Each commit adds a node and moves head forward.

  2. 2

    Open the graph

The Graph panel shows the tree. Click a node to view that state. Looking changes nothing until you write.

  3. 3

    Make Head

When an older take should be the new starting point, Make Head. The next edit parents from there.

  4. 4

    Branch or prune

Carry on from an earlier result without erasing the other direction. Prune keeps only the lineage you name.

Operations become typed nodes

The graph records the operation that made a step, so the lineage stays legible while the image changes.

Fork lanes

A fork keeps a second lane from an earlier node, so a new direction does not erase the first.

Scrub a view

Scrub through a lineage to inspect its states. Looking at a node does not make it the durable head.

Prune a lineage

Prune when one named lineage is the only direction you want to keep.

Batch import

Point at a folder or a saved project and bring it in with its history intact, rather than opening one file at a time.

Local files on disk

Projects and their derivation graphs live as ordinary files on your own disk. Nothing is parked in a cloud project store you have to sign in to reach.

Freedom to make mistakes.
Try the wild idea. If it goes wrong, go back to any step and carry on.

Undo goes all the way back.
