Seed Canvas
What is Seed Canvas?
Generate GPU-accelerated procedural starting images for your 360° renders. Instead of uploading a photograph, create abstract patterns, fractals, noise fields, and natural simulations directly in the application — all seamlessly tileable for 360° equirectangular output.
Why Use Seed Canvas?
- Start from generated art instead of photographs
- Create abstract, surreal, or procedural 360° environments
- Explore wildly different visual starting points in seconds
- All 21 generators run on GPU — instant results
- Every generator produces seamless equirectangular output
- Combine with AI diffusion for unique, never-before-seen panoramas
21 Generators
Fractal Generators (6)
Mandelbrot Fractal — The classic fractal with infinite zoom depth. Deep parameter control over iterations, escape radius, and color mapping.
Julia Fractal — Complex-plane iteration producing ornate symmetric patterns. Adjustable c-parameter for wildly different outputs.
Burning Ship — Variant fractal using absolute-value iteration. Produces sharp, crystalline structures reminiscent of a burning ship.
Tricorn — The "Mandelbar" fractal with conjugate iteration. Creates three-fold symmetric patterns.
Newton Fractal — Visualization of Newton's method root-finding. Produces cell-like structures with vibrant basin boundaries.
Multibrot — Generalized Mandelbrot with adjustable exponent. Higher exponents produce more rotational symmetry lobes.
Noise Generators (6)
Perlin Noise — Classic gradient noise, excellent for organic textures. Adjustable octaves, frequency, amplitude, and persistence.
Simplex Noise — Improved Perlin variant with fewer directional artifacts. Better isotropy for natural-looking results.
Billow Noise — Absolute-value Perlin producing cloud-like billowing patterns. Great for atmospheric and volumetric effects.
Worley Cellular — Distance-based cellular noise creating organic cell patterns. Produces stone, scales, and biological textures.
Domain Warped — Noise distorted through its own field, creating surreal flowing landscapes. Highly organic and unpredictable.
Ridged Multifractal — Hybrid noise with sharp ridges and valleys. Excellent for mountain terrain, cracked earth, and geological features.
Natural Simulations (4)
Hydraulic Erosion — Physics-based erosion simulation. Creates realistic terrain with rivers, valleys, and sediment deposits.
Reaction-Diffusion — Chemical reaction simulation (Turing patterns). Produces spots, stripes, and labyrinthine organic patterns.
Voronoi Plates — Cellular decomposition creating tectonic-plate-like regions. Great for geological, crystalline, and mosaic effects.
Clouds — Perlin-based atmospheric simulation. Produces realistic cloud formations and atmospheric effects.
Procedural Patterns (4)
Quasicrystal — Non-repeating symmetry patterns with adjustable fold count. Creates mesmerizing, kaleidoscopic interference patterns.
Spherical Harmonics — Harmonic basis functions on the sphere. Produces wave-like interference patterns with mathematical beauty.
Truchet Tiles — Tile-based geometric patterns with randomized orientations. Creates maze-like, decorative, and architectural patterns.
Cyclic Cellular Automata — Cellular automaton with cyclic state evolution. Produces spiraling, galaxy-like emergent patterns.
Flow Visualization (1)
Flow Streamlines — Vector field visualization with adjustable parameters. Creates flowing, wind-map-like patterns with directional energy.
Using Seed Canvas
- Navigate to the Input tab
- Select "Generate" mode (instead of "Upload")
- Browse the generator grid — each shows a thumbnail preview
- Click a generator to select it
- Adjust parameters:
- Resolution (match your target output)
- Color scheme
- Scale, octaves, frequency (varies per generator)
- Seed value (for reproducibility)
- Click Generate — result appears instantly
- Use as input for any AI processor
Presets (92 total)
Seed Canvas includes 92 built-in presets across all 21 generators, with curated parameter sets for each generator. Each preset includes: - Generator parameters (scale, octaves, iterations, seed) - Color scheme and palette settings - Preset thumbnail showing a preview of the output
Preset System: - Built-in presets (read-only) — 92 curated starting points - User presets (editable) — Save your own custom configurations - Presets store all generator parameters + color settings - Thumbnails are generated on first save and cached for fast browsing
Favorites
Star any generator or preset to mark it as a favorite. The favorites filter in the generator grid shows only your starred items — useful for quickly accessing your most-used generators.
Blend & Modulate
Seed Canvas supports advanced compositing operations before the image is sent to the diffusion pipeline:
Blend Modes: - Normal — Standard overlay (default) - Multiply — Darkens by multiplying pixel values - Screen — Lightens by inverting, multiplying, and inverting - Overlay — Combines multiply and screen for contrast enhancement
Texture Modulation: - Brightness — Adjust overall luminance - Saturation — Adjust color intensity - Displacement — Warp the image using a noise field for organic distortion
Upload-to-Cache Flow
Seed Canvas uses a content-addressable cache (SHA-256 hash of all generator parameters): 1. Generator config is hashed 2. If the hash exists in cache, the image loads instantly (no recomputation) 3. If not in cache, the generator runs on GPU and the result is cached 4. Cached results persist across application restarts 5. WebSocket progress events report generation status in real time
WebSocket Progress
During generation, real-time WebSocket events report: - Generator start and completion - Progress percentage for long-running generators (erosion, reaction-diffusion) - Cached hit/miss status - Any errors or warnings
Batch Export
- Generate multiple variations by changing the seed value
- Export entire seed sets for sequence workflows
- Compatible with all output formats (PNG, JPG, EXR)
Tips
- Generate at your target resolution for best results
- Lower diffusion strength (0.3-0.5) preserves more of the seed pattern
- Combine fractal generators with style-focused prompts
- Use Domain Warped for the most surreal, organic landscapes
- Reaction-Diffusion + "alien planet" prompts creates incredible results
- Quasicrystal + architectural prompts produces stunning kaleidoscopic interiors
